Rhinoplasty (nasal surgery)

This patient is a healthy 17 year old that is unhappy with the appearance of her nose. She did not have any history of trauma or injury to the nose.  She was interested in improved the “dorsal hump” to the bridge of her nose as well as refining, shaping, and providing a subtle “lift” or upward rotation to the nasal tip, to bring it into balance with the rest of her nose.  In addition she had a septal deviation and difficulty breathing through her nose, especially on the left side.
She underwent rhinoplasty (nasal surgery) to reduce the dorsal hump, refine the nasal tip, adding some projection and a subtle upward rotation to the tip as well.  In addition she underwent a septoplasty to remove the deviated septum and improve her nasal breathing.

The photos are taken at 6 weeks after surgery and show significant improved in the shape of her nose as well as her nasal breathing.

This patient came to Dr. Boynton complaining of chronic congestion and other breathing problems as well as a desire to improve the appearance of her nose.  Dr. Boynton performed an open rhinoplasty to narrow and improve the appearance of the nasal tip as well as decrease the width of the base of the nose and removal of the dorsal “hump”. As the rhinoplasty was used to improve the appearance of the nose Dr. Boynton also performed a septoplasty to fix the deviated septum and removal of a portion of the turbinates to improve nasal airflow.
Postoperative results show improvement and balance to the nose, increased nasal tip projection, removal of the “hump”, and a narrower base. Functionally, the patient breathes easily through both nostrils.
