What to Expect with Butt Augmentation Surgery:

“Brazilian Butt Lift” or buttock enhancement with fat grafting involves harvesting your own body fat from other areas of your body, like your stomach or thighs, and transferring the fat with a micro-cannula into the buttock tissue.  During this fat grafting process the buttock's contour can be greatly improved by adding fullness to the butt and giving the butt the appearance of having been lifted. The fullness and projection of the buttocks is increased by laying many fine layers of micro-fat grafts throughout the thickness of the Gluteal muscle and the subcutaneous tissue.

Some doctors enhance the buttock with silicone butt implants however our practice has found them to be problematic. Some of the common problems with silicone butt implants include infection, migration (movement of the implant from original positioning), & capsular contracture. It is for these reasons that Dr. Boynton prefers to use the fat grafting technique for his butt augmentation patients. Fat grafting utilizes your own fat which is not seen as a foreign object by the body. Fat grafting has a higher safety record and minimal risks. Approximately 30% of the fat injected into the buttock will be reabsorbed by the body and repeat injections are sometime necessary.

Butt augmentation via fat grafting is performed under general anesthesia, on an outpatient basis. Compression garments may be worn for several weeks after surgery in order to help form the buttocks, as well as to reduce swelling.
